Q: How should one return money that someone has usurped to its owner, and what is the ruling if someone has made a purchase with that money? What is the ruling on traveling, shopping, and spending money on education with that money? Should the value of the money be calculated as of today or its previous value?
R: In the name of the Almighty
You are indebted to its owners for the same amount that you usurped. If you are in doubt between the minimum and the maximum, the minimum amount is obligatory on you, and the amount of debt is the time of usurpation.
All the equipment that you purchased, if it was purchased on credit, is yours. The ruling on travel and purchases during travel and education is similar.
