Al-Khoei Foundation

About Us

Grand Ayatollah Khoei Institute

Established in 1989 at the behest of the grand Ayatollah Khoei, the Ayatollah Khoei Foundation was founded with the aim of providing religious, cultural, and social services to Shi'a Muslims in both Islamic and non-Islamic countries. With the grace of God, the attention of the Imam Mahdi (may peace be upon him), and the tireless efforts and strategies of the late Marja', the foundation was quickly realized. With the establishment of its main center in London, England, and numerous branches worldwide, including Iran, Iraq, the United States, Canada, France, Pakistan, Thailand, and India, the foundation has expanded rapidly. Today, this institution serves as a global Shia Islamic institution, dedicated to the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) in various religious, cultural, and social dimensions.

Given the late Grand Ayatollah Khoei's insistence on the continuation of this institution's services after his passing, a comprehensive charter was drafted in consultation with scholars and experts in various fields. A committee of knowledgeable and dedicated scholars from diverse nationalities was appointed to oversee the institution's activities under the supervision of the highest Shi'a authority at all times

Currently, the institution is managed under the supervision of the general custodian, the late marja's son, His Eminence Sayyid Sahib Khoei, and with the assistance of the central board of trustees, composed of prominent academic and cultural figures from various countries. It operates under the supervision of the highest Shi'a authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani.

Alhamdulillah, this institution is one of the largest and most prominent Shia centers in the world, with numerous Islamic centers, schools, universities, and seminaries operating in various regions globally.

1996 , the Al-Khoei Foundation became the fourth Islamic center and the first Shia center to acquire the status of a General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The Council's primary responsibility is to contribute to the improvement of human rights and the rights of minorities.
