The New Crescent for Rabi' al-Awal 1434 AH

Dear Believers in North America,
as-Salamu Alaykum,
The Crescent Moon Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America announces that based on reports of sighting the new crescent moon in different localities at sunset Saturday, January 12th, therefore Sunday, January 13th will be the First day of Rabi' al-Awal 1434 for the United States Canada.
We ask the Almighty Allah to make us successful in establishing the rituals to remember them and to hasten the appearance of our Holy Imam (peace be upon him.)

was established at the 12th Council of Shia Muslim Scholars in North America in Detroit, September 2012.

- 12th Arriving prophet Muhammed to Yathrib city (al-Madina). Starting the Islamic calendar.
- 17th Birthday of prophet Muhammed PBUH&HF (53 B.H.)
- 17th Birthday of Imam Jafar al-Sadiq a.s. (Year 38 H.)
- 18th establishing al-Nabawi Masjid (Mosque) in the city of al-Madina on the first Hijri year.
